Let’s TRAIN!

By the Green Youth of Serbia, MODOM, and Young Greens of Greece

with support from Zeleni Prozor and Youth Forum URA

This campaign aimed at promoting train infrastructure. Trains are superior in terms of efficiency and comfort, as well as the climate impact, and many European countries are promoting their railway infrastructure: campaigners sought to achieve the same in the Balkan region, specifically Serbia, North Macedonia, Greece, Croatia, and Montenegro, where the organisers were campaining from. This explains both the cross-regional and the train-focused aspects of the campaign.

The campaign wished to shed light on the reality of this neglected means of transport, underscore its positive aspects, and promote actual improvements that may occur in the Balkan countries. Beyond raising awareness, the campaign aimed to problematise the issue, and inspire the campaign organisations’ mother or related parties to discuss it in the arena of formal politics.

The main results of the campaign is seen in the engagement, plans for future activities, and overall strengthening of cooperation between the participating organizations. As a team, they have collaborated on post-making and associated their issues, just as many of the rail lines used to connect their countries in the past.
